A new plan to boost the production and consumption of organic products, presented Thursday by the EU Commission, aims to reach 25 per cent of agricultural land under organic farming by 2030.
Organic farming has been constantly growing for the last decade (62% in ten years), from 8.5 million hectares in 2010 to 13.8 million hectares in 2019.
Copa and Cogeca take note that agriculture will not be part of the first set of economic activities that will be covered under the re-drafted Taxonomy delegated act .
In February, the executive Vice-President and Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis presented a communication of fundamental importance for the EU farming sector; the EU trade policy review.
